10 Big Changes Coming to the Tyrone and West St Petersburg Area of Pinellas County, FL

In case you haven’t heard all the chatter around town, there are a lot of changes coming to the Tyrone/West St Pete area of Pinellas County!  As always, we want to keep our readers in the loop about possible development projects coming to their area so we put together an easy-to-read list of the proposed changes coming to this fabulous area of Pinellas!


While some of these plans have not been publicly confirmed by the companies listed below, we have already seen some confirmed development taking place in Tyrone, where residents are hopeful for more restaurants and storefronts to fill vacancies that happened over the past 5 years or so.

Tyrone Mall/West St Petersburg, FL Area

  • The former Pier 1 Store at 2030 Tyrone Blvd North will become an Ulta (confirmed by the company, more details in this article here

  • The former Rib City in Shoppes at the Royale (just South of Tyrone Mall) will soon have an ice cream shop in the back portion of the plaza and a PF Chang’s To Go in the front

  • The former K-Mart site at 4501 66th Street will become a Sprouts Grocery Store and an At Home 

  • The former Eckerd Drugs will become a Crunch Fitness 

  • Firehouse Subs is coming to Tyrone Crossroads #1946 at 2125 66th St N St. Petersburg

  • The former Checkers located at 6730 Central Ave, St Petersburg will become the Blend Coffee and Wine

  • Chik Fil A is moving from next to McDonalds on Tyrone Blvd to the old TGI Friday location at 2190 Tyrone Blvd N in the Crossroads Shopping Center by the Home Depot

  • The former Sears Outlet on Park Street is supposedly going to be redeveloped into condos that will go back all the way to the water. (We do not have full confirmation of this yet)

  • The former Green Iguana at 8790 Bay Pines Blvd will become a “West Side” Doc Ford’s location

  • The former Pinellas County Clerk of the Court and tax collector’s office will become a new medical emergency facility under Bayfront Health located at 1800 66th Street N
